Standing above the historic city centre, the Dom Tower is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands and one of the country's most recognisable landmarks. Built during the Middle Ages as part of Utrecht Cathedral, the tower represented the city's religious and political importance. A storm destroyed part of the cathedral nave in 1674, leaving the tower separated from the remaining church. Visitors can climb the tower's hundreds of steps for incredible views and explore the medieval streets surrounding it.
