Once one of Europe's richest cities, Kutná Hora became wealthy through its silver mines, which helped finance the power of medieval Bohemia. The city's most famous landmark is Sedlec Ossuary, often known as the "Bone Church", decorated with thousands of human bones in a remarkable example of medieval religious art. Visitors can also explore St. Barbara's Church, medieval streets and former mining areas. The surrounding countryside is excellent for cycling and walking, making Kutná Hora a great cultural stop on a wider Central Bohemian adventure.
