About the area
The area has been inhabited since Roman times, with evidence of settlements dating back centuries. The development of Cavallino as a seaside resort began in the early 20th century, transforming it from a quiet fishing community into a major tourist destination. The peninsula's characteristic landscape of beaches and pinewood was shaped by both natural processes and deliberate reforestation efforts. Veneto was the heartland of the Venetian Republic, one of the most powerful maritime republics from the medieval period through the 18th century. The region fell under Austrian rule after the Napoleonic Wars and was only unified with Italy in 1866. Its prosperity built on trade and craftsmanship continues to define its character today.
