About the area

San Felice del Benaco has been inhabited since Roman times and served as an important fishing village throughout the medieval period. The town developed around its natural harbor and remained a strategic location for controlling Lake Garda trade routes. Today it retains its historic character while serving as a modern tourist destination. Brescia was an important Roman city called Brixia and later became a major medieval and Renaissance center. The city and province were under Venetian control for centuries, which influenced much of its architecture and culture. Brescia played a significant role in Italian industrial development during the 19th and 20th centuries.
