Camping an Kroatiens Adriaküste begann ab den 1960er Jahren zu boomen, als das Land (damals Teil Jugoslawiens) zu einem großen Ziel für in- und ausländische Touristen wurde, die von seinen Stränden und dem milden Klima angezogen wurden. Istrien und die Kvarner-Bucht waren frühe Zentren für Küstencampingplätze, von denen viele inzwischen zu großen Resort-ähnlichen Ferienparks mit Pools und vielfältigen Unterkunftsmöglichkeiten herangewachsen sind. Seit der Unabhängigkeit und besonders seit dem EU-Beitritt 2013 ist der Campingtourismus weiter gewachsen, und die Küstenlinie bleibt eine der beliebtesten Campingregionen im Mittelmeerraum.

Trakošćan Castle

Rising beside a tranquil lake surrounded by woodland, Trakošćan Castle is widely considered Croatia's most beautiful castle. Originally built in the 13th century as a defensive fortress, it was transformed into a romantic neo-Gothic residence by the Drašković noble family during the 19th century.

Perched on a hilltop overlooking the Zagorje countryside, Veliki Tabor is one of Croatia's most recognisable medieval castles. Built mainly during the 15th and 16th centuries, the fortress belonged to powerful noble families including the Ráttkay family.

The Battle of Sisak was one of the most important victories in Croatian military history. Fought in 1593 near the confluence of the Kupa, Sava and Odra rivers, Croatian and Habsburg forces defeated a much larger Ottoman army.

The Battle of Krbava Field was one of the most dramatic medieval battles in Croatian history. Fought between Croatian noble forces and the Ottoman army in 1493, it resulted in a devastating defeat for the Croatian side.
