Route map

Terrain

Similar in character to the GR10 — sustained mountain walking with high passes, though the Spanish side tends to be drier and rockier with fewer refuges spaced further apart in places. Waymarked with red-and-white GR flashes.

Tips

Refuges are more sparsely spaced than on the French side, so carrying more food and being prepared to camp is more common. Many walkers combine sections of the GR11 and GR10, crossing the border where convenient, since the two routes run close together at several points.
